This session is intended to provide training on the implementation of Positive Behavioral Interventions & Supports (PBIS) in your school or district. This is a Train the Trainer model, and will focus on Core (Tier 1) and Supplemental (Tier II), with a brief look at Intensive (Tier III) interventions. During this working session, you will create a bank of knowledge and a game plan for systematically strengthening a positive environment for your students and staff.

16005 The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind: An Integration of Literacy, STEM, and More - Ocracoke

When 14 year-old William s home in Malawi experienced a terrible drought, his family was left with nothing to eat or sell. Without food or the ability to go to school, William explored his town s library. With perseverance and grit, he came up with an idea that would change the lives of his family and town forever.
Using the memoir of William Kamkwamba in The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind, this session will explore integrating literacy, STEM, a dash of history, and social-emotional learning into the North Carolina Standard Course of Study for grades 5-8! Come join us as we learn about William and the inventiveness of the human spirit.

North Carolina Teacher of the Year leads NCCAT program

North Carolina 2020 Burroughs Wellcome Fund Teacher of the Year, Maureen Stover, who was also named one of four finalists for National Teacher of the Year, recently presented in the NCCAT program "Dollar Store Science." In this one day seminar, participants  learned ways to design lessons on a budget using inexpensive supplies and tools that you can find at your local discount store.

CULLOWHEE – The North Carolina Center of Advancement of Teaching (NCCAT) Board of Trustees will have a committee meeting Thursday, Nov. 4 at 5 p.m. in a virtual committee meeting from the NCCAT Cullowhee Campus, 276 NCCAT Drive, Cullowhee, NC 28723. The purpose of the committee meeting is to discuss planning for the future of the Cullowhee Campus facilities. Members of the public may view the meeting live at www.nccat.org
