NCCAT Program Builds Active Kids and Active Readers

CULLOWHEE (November 20, 2015)—Sarah Lowell knows if she could have moved more in school she would have learned more.

“I was one of those kids who would have loved school if I had been able to move and learn,” said Lowell, a former physical education Teacher of the Year in North Carolina. “School was torture for me, up until high school, because of not being able to move. Now the research is there that proves kids will retain information better and learn more if moving.”

Morehead City Primary School Teachers Share Digital Tools Learned at NCCAT

CULLOWHEE (November 17, 2015)—Three Morehead City Primary School teachers were already using tools they learned about at NCCAT—even before going back to the classroom. And they plan to keep integrating technology into their Carteret County school.

Lee Taylor, a third-grade teacher; Amanda McCall, a third-grade teacher; and Chantel Williams, a second-grade teacher, all took part in “There's an App for That! Digital Programs Across the Curriculum.”

From surviving and thriving in the 90-minute block to digital learning in K-2 grades there is a professional development opportunity for you. The overarching focus of these programs is to increase an educator's capacity to improve learning outcomes for all children.
