Former banker selected as the NCCAT 2019-2020 Beginning Teacher of the Year for Hickory Public Schools

Eva Winkler, a former banker, has seen selected as the North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching (NCCAT) 2019-2020 Beginning Teacher of the Year for Hickory Public Schools.
 
Competing for the title against fourteen other HPS beginning teachers, Winkler is a first grade teacher at Jenkins Elementary School. This is her second year at Jenkins. She served as a kindergarten teacher during her first year at Jenkins and was previously a teacher for a portion of a school year with Webb A. Murray Elementary.

CULLOWHEE - Educators from Winston-Salem Forsyth County Schools completed a successful Teacher Leadership Institute at NCCAT’s Cullowhee campus. The essential components of this NCCAT program cover the concept of leadership before drilling into the specifics of teacher leadership. Educators explore the elements of leadership, teacher leadership potential, personality traits, group dynamics, mentoring, problem solving, teacher leadership standards, and implementing teacher leadership roles in the school setting.

NCCAT Announces Beginning Teacher of the Year Award

CULLOWHEE - The North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching is pleased to announce the NCCAT Beginning Teacher of the Year Award. The award program is designed to honor and retain excellent North Carolina teachers and education leaders among the 7000 beginning teachers recruited annually.

“NCCAT is a long-time supporter of teaching excellence and a natural expression of that support is to recognize the best of the beginning teachers in our state,” NCCAT Executive Director M. Brock Womble explained.
