Calling all North Carolina educators! Summer registration is now open for The North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching (NCCAT), a renowned national leader in professional development. Programs are available at both the Cullowhee and Ocracoke campuses, online, and through NCCAT faculty visiting school districts. NCCAT is dedicated to providing professional development to meet the unique needs of North Carolina teachers. Residential programming offers the added benefits of free lodging, meals, and materials, creating a collaborative environment for NC educators.

Join NCCAT April 24-27 for "Bringing Learning to Life Through Movement" in Cullowhee. A wealth of research supports the hypothesis that physical activity can boost comprehension, retention, and self-regulation in students of all achievement levels. Teachers who build movement into their lessons have students who are more engaged. Teachers will learn a variety of strategies for integrating instruction with physical activity, but not at the expense of intellectual rigor.

Thirty-eight presenters from across North Carolina joined NCCAT in Cullowhee for "The NCCAT Way: Leading Learning, Growing Together" Feb. 17-18 at the Cullowhee campus.

Make plans to join NCCAT for two exciting Literacy Professional Development programs in April. NCCAT's instructional programs reflect the broad range of unique professional development topics for public school teachers and other educators. Challenging formats, combined with professional learning communities, shape the NCCAT offerings. All programs incorporate state standards.

Canvas is a useful tool whether it s for fully online courses or to create modules for a blended teaching approach, but who has the time and support to craft great Canvas resources? The program "Canvas - Time To Design" will give teachers the time and support to accomplish their Canvas design goals.

More than 100 teachers from across western North Carolina came to the NCCAT campus in Cullowhee for the "Amie Dean – Behavioral Interventions that Work" program. 

Is your school interested in using the NC Global-Ready Schools Implementation Rubric for school improvement or to receive the NC Global-Ready Schools designation? During this planning institute, schools will review the attributes of the Rubric, consider what each attribute means in the context of their individual school, assess the school’s readiness, draft a strategic plan and develop next steps for school improvement or to apply for the NC Global-Ready Schools designation.

Math, Literacy, STEM, social studies and more professional development available in November with the North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching. NCCAT helps North Carolina teachers grow in knowledge, skills, compassion, and professionalism so that students become engaged, self-motivated, and successful.
