PBLs are an effective and enjoyable way to learn which allows students to work as a team, reflect, ask questions, build confidence, work with a purpose, problem solve, and learn time management. Investigate what essential questions, unit questions, and content questions will enable you to develop your own PBL unit using digital tools. Return to your classroom with a PBL unit you create that will excite and engage your students as they claim ownership of their learning.

Virtual Session: Getting Started with Canvas

This session is for teachers with access to Canvas.

Canvas, North Carolina s Learning Management System (LMS), is your place for one-stop learning and course management. Teachers will become familiar with the features of Canvas, such as the settings, notifications, and a variety of tools in building a course. Participants will learn how to create modules and a variety of items such as discussions, assignments, quizzes, and content pages. Participants will also learn how to develop rubrics to use while grading assignments in SpeedGrader. If you have Canvas and want to use it more effectively, this is the course for you!

This online course will show you how to get started in Canvas and will provide virtual group meetings to discuss Canvas features. Participants can build in a Canvas course while getting ideas from the instructor and each other. All virtual meetings will be recorded so participants can rewatch the demonstration.

Make sure you have access to Canvas within your district so that you can create a course. Come with an open mind and be ready to learn! It's Canvas time!

Google Classroom teachers can integrate the 4 Cs into their instruction when they incorporate a variety of Google Apps for Education and digital tools in their lesson design. What are the best “Apps” and “tools” to use? How can you embed the digital competencies in lessons using Google Classroom? In this program, Google Classroom teachers will build their repertoire of skills by learning about and using a variety of Google Apps for Education and tools that foster seamless communication, encourage collaboration among students, promote critical thinking, and, support student creativity—the 4 Cs.
 

15626 Vertically Aligning the NC Math Standards 6-9 - Virtual

This is a virtual program for teachers in grades 6-9.

This program will take place December 1st from 3:15-4:45pm.

This virtual session will provide opportunities for teachers to delve into the NC Math Standards and vertically align with colleagues from across NC in collaborative grade-span groups. Teachers will learn a protocol for facilitating effective vertical alignment and spend time using this protocol in collaborative groups to develop vertical understandings of math concepts. Join NCCAT to collaborate with colleagues and make connections with the NC Math Standards. This program is best designed for teachers and instructional coaches in grades 6-9.
