CULLOWHEE—The North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching (NCCAT) will offer a new Focus Friday program “Vertically Aligning the New K–8 NC Math Standards and Instructional Frameworks” on Sept. 28 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
This one-day session at the Cullowhee campus will provide opportunities for teachers to delve into the new NC math standards and instructional frameworks for successful teaching. Teachers will learn strategies for conceptual understandings, and explore resources that aid in reaching the rigor of the standards. In addition, collaboration with math colleagues from across the region will be facilitated to develop vertical alignment amongst grade spans. This professional development is designed for K–8 teachers and will include an additional opportunity to meet virtually for follow-up learning and collaboration.
The Focus Friday programs offer teachers the opportunity to look into a variety of topics while at NCCAT for a day. Come be a part of NCCAT’s daylong professional development session. Breakfast and lunch is included. A limited number of rooms are available if you need to arrive the night before.
