CULLOWHEE - Teachers from across North Carolina completed the first North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching (NCCAT) Literacy Badge program. CULLOWHEE—The North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching hosted nearly 50 educators for “Focus Friday: Developing Oral Language in Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten Classrooms” on May 11th.
First “Focus Friday” Held at NCCAT Offers Deep Dive into Dyslexia
CULLOWHEE—The North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching (NCCAT) hosted 41 teachers from across North Carolina for its first “Focus Friday” event on Feb. 23 in Cullowhee. Titled “A Deep Dive Into Dyslexia,” participants were able to deepen their knowledge and expertise as it relates to awareness, instruction and assessment of students exhibiting difficulties in reading consistent with dyslexia.
Discussion for the day centered on the science of reading—why students experience reading difficulty—and the causes and characteristics of dyslexia and reading disabilities.
NCCAT Begins “Focus Friday” with Program on Dyslexia
The North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching (NCCAT) will be offering upcoming programs covering a variety of educational topics on upcoming Fridays.
The first is a “Focus Friday: A Deep Dive into Dyslexia” that will take place February 23, 2018 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Cullowhee at NCCAT, a nationally recognized leader in teacher professional development.
