Pamlico County teachers receive NCCAT George Brinson Honored Educator Scholarships

The North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching (NCCAT) proudly announces Katie Hardison and Stacy Nelson, educators from Pamlico County Schools, as the recipients of the prestigious NCCAT George Brinson Honored Educator Scholarships. This esteemed scholarship recognizes and celebrates the outstanding contributions of educators who embody the spirit of George Brinson, an ardent advocate for public schools.

George Brinson, through a lifetime of dedication to education, utilized his energy, deep understanding of educational issues, and community connections to champion the cause of public schools. The Honored Educator Scholarship (HES) program at NCCAT pays tribute to his legacy by supporting educators who share a commitment to enhancing the educational experience for all students.

The NCCAT Honored Educator Scholarships provide a unique opportunity for selected teachers to attend a NCCAT seminar of their choice. The scholarship covers all associated costs, including program materials, instruction, food, lodging, transportation, and substitute teacher expenses. Additionally, each honored educator receives a $250 grant for use in their classroom to further enrich the learning environment.

Katie Hardison and Stacy Nelson, the latest recipients of the George Brinson Honored Educator Scholarships, recently attended the NCCAT program titled "Launch-Explore-Discuss: Task-Based Learning in the Elementary Math Classroom." The seminar aimed to equip educators with innovative teaching strategies and approaches to enhance math instruction in elementary classrooms.

Both educators expressed their gratitude for the scholarship opportunity and shared their enthusiasm for the knowledge gained during the seminar. They were pictured alongside seminar presenter Meg McKee, further emphasizing the collaborative and educational spirit of the NCCAT programs.
