CULLOWHEE—EdcampWNC expanded its reach during the fifth time it has taken place at the North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching, a national leader in professional development, on Oct. 15.
The more than 50 participants were also able to connect with an event in Wake County (#EdCampWake) and people were able to see some of the programs via a live stream at http://edcampwnc.strikingly.com/. The live stream, along with Twitter hashtag of #edcampwnc, helped increase the learning and sharing beyond those who attended the program. Some of the topics discussed included: Blended Personalized Learning and Strategies for Gifted Students.
EdCamps, which began in 2010, are not like a traditional conference with a set schedule determined months ahead of the event. This professional development model has an agenda that is created at the start of the event by the participants to fit their needs. Participants are encouraged to attend sessions that are best for them.
