Participants in NCCAT Online can now receive digital badges as part of the program.
Digital badges are a way to capture and communicate what an individual knows and can demonstrate in any given field. While this electronic method of recognizing an individual’s knowledge and skills has been around for several years, it has recently gained momentum as a way to recognize individual’s learning. Digital badges are a way to certify the skills of a learner in basic education programs that are valued in schools.
As a way to acknowledge teachers’ efforts in digital learning, Elizabeth Joyce, senior digital learning specialist at NCCAT, is now awarding these digital badges to participants of her face-to-face programs at the centers and future participants who complete online courses that NCCAT offers North Carolina educators.
NCCAT Online is freely available to all North Carolina licensed educators at no additional cost the teacher of the school district. NCCAT Online Mini Courses are short modules that cover specific content areas. These courses are available for self-study. NCCAT Online Mini Courses are self-paced courses where participants can earn 3, 5, or 10 contact hours, depending on the number of assignments participants are asked to complete.
