CULLOWHEE – The North Carolina Center of Advancement of Teaching (NCCAT) Board of Trustees will have a committee meeting Thursday, September 3, 2020 at noon in a special called virtual 

Join NCCAT September 8^th-10^th for the virtual program, Supporting Instructional Coaches to Lead the Way. This program will be facilitated with virtual sessions to support the critical practices of instructional coaches in NC schools. This program will prepare coaches for this ever-changing profession.

If you are struggling to get boys to read, you’re not alone! Boys consistently score lower than girls on most indicators of reading proficiency. Exploring the social, psychological, and developmental reasons why boys lag behind girls provides many clues about the reading materials you can use in your classroom to capture the attention of your struggling male readers.

CULLOWHEE – The North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching thanked Dr. Aaron L. Fleming for his service as Chairman of the Board of Trustees during the June 22^nd meeting.

The North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching has several upcoming opportunities for professional development this September. Free high-quality professional development designed to help as school starts in the fall. NCCAT provides teachers with new knowledge, skills, teaching methods, best practices and information to take back to their classrooms.

A variety of programs are available from digital learning, literacy, science and social studies.

In striving to meet North Carolina’s current and future needs in early grades literacy, The North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching has hired Early Grades Literacy Specialist Gin Hodge to support teachers in incorporating early grades literacy learning into their instruction.

NCCAT, a recognized national leader in professional development programming for teachers, responded to an expressed statewide need for professional development in the area of early grades literacy.

CULLOWHEE - The North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching announces a new chairman and vice chairman to its Board of Trustees. The Board recently elected Dr. Cory S. Causby of Waynesville as chairman and Dr. Terry W. Worrell as vice chairwoman. The Board also thanked Dr. Aaron L. Fleming of Lillington and Jeffrey T. Clark of Jacksonville, former Board of Trustees’ chairman and vice chairman respectively, for their vital service to the Board.

CULLOWHEE – Governor Roy Cooper has appointed four members to the Board of Trustees of the North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching (NCCAT), a recognized national leader in professional development programming for our state’s teachers.
