The North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching is currently taking applications from foreign language or ESL teachers for the Luz M. Frye Honored Educator Scholarship (HES) for FY 2018–2019.
Normally, applications are taken from January 1 thru April 30th. However, due to a lack of applications from foreign language or ESL teachers for academic year 2018–2019 the deadline has been extended.

As you will see on the NCCAT HES webpage, the description in honor of Mrs. Frye is as follows:
Statewide to ESL or foreign language teacher
Luz M. Frye
This scholarship was established in honor of Luz Frye who taught Spanish in Wake County for thirty years. Now retired, her professional career included active membership in the Foreign Language Association of North Carolina (FLANC), the Southern Conference on Language Teaching, the Wake County Foreign Language Collaborative, and the NC Society of Hispanic Professionals. Commendably, she was named the 2001 FLANC teacher of the year. The Luz M. Frye Honored Educator Scholarship honors the dedication shown by Mrs. Frye to all students and her dedication to upholding the profession of teaching.
