There is a clear science to teaching reading. Due to advancements in cognitive science, we know more about how our students learn to read than ever before. Participants will delve into current Science of Reading research to support learning around the essential components of reading instruction. Our work will include discovering the tenets of structured literacy to ensure all children have access to effective reading instruction. Please join us as we spend quality time looking closely into best instructional practices that support the Science of Reading.

In this session, we will discover ways to differentiate in a digital environment. Strategies, scenarios, tips, tricks, and practices will be shared to increase student engagement. Participants will be given an opportunity to understand how differentiating with technology can help them create student personalized learning profiles. We will explore how to use technology to teach to different learning styles so that retention is easier. Technology will be used so that teachers can connect with every student, and build stronger relationships that promote learning.
Now more than ever we know the importance of routines for students in math instruction. Building students’ number sense should still be an integral part of the math block, even if it has to look a little different. Whether you are new to number talks or looking for resources to refresh your number talks, join NCCAT virtually from 4:00-5:30pm to learn this about this strategy and explore resources. This program is intended for math teachers and instructional coaches in grades K-5.

Britt NCCAT Honored Educator Scholarship! Ms. Senseney attended "Supporting Instructional Coaches to Lead the Way" at our Cullowhee campus.
We appreciate these teachers being with us for "Supporting Instructional Coaches to Lead the Way" in Cullowhee. Throughout the week, coaches learned strategies to strengthen relationships with teachers, facilitate meaningful collaboration, and give effective feedback. Sessions included best practices for having critical conversations and establishing productive professional learning communities with students’ success in mind. Great work!
