Greetings from NCCAT! I wanted to let you know about some current NCCAT efforts and what is ahead.
First, we are extremely thankful for your support and the General Assembly action to return NCCAT to recurring status in the state budget. It is a vital step in NCCAT moving forward and continuing to provide high-quality professional development for the teachers of North Carolina.
As a part of that ongoing effort to reach teachers, we're pleased to announce NCCAT Interim Lead Center Fellow Dr. Deb Teitelbaum will be based in the Raleigh area effective October 15, 2014. Dr. Teitelbaum will be working to support the relationship between NCCAT and the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction. She will conduct NCCAT programs and seminars at both our Cullowhee and Ocracoke campuses while working directly with a number of schools across North Carolina. One of her focus areas will be to help NCCAT teachers and staff to create resources that will be available on the Homebase System.
“In this new role I’m looking forward to having the opportunity to be in classrooms and see how NCCAT can meet the current needs teachers have,” Teitelbaum said.
We were delighted to learn Shannon Wheeler, the Literacy Coach at Stough Elementary, has won two grants totaling $4,500 which came from work she did in an NCCAT program led by Dr. Ernest Johnson. Congrats to Shannon on her efforts! Her work is one of countless examples we see every day of teachers taking leadership roles to benefit the children of our state.
NCCAT looks forward to working with you this year, and we hope your school year is off to a great start. Let us know if we can help.
