Amanda Holmes Awarded Richard A. Schwartz NCCAT Honored Educator Scholarship

Eastern Wayne Middle School teacher Amanda Holmes has been named the recipient of the prestigious Richard A. Schwartz NCCAT Honored Educator Scholarship. Amanda, who teaches 6th-8th grade Reading, Math, Science, Social Studies, and Life Skills in Wayne County Schools, is celebrated for her dedication to inspiring and shaping young minds.

The Richard A. Schwartz NCCAT Honored Educator Scholarship recognizes the significant contributions of Richard A. Schwartz, a nationally renowned attorney and passionate advocate for North Carolina public education. Schwartz also serves as the president of the Development of the North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching, Inc., further solidifying his commitment to advancing educational excellence in the state. The scholarship also honors his father, Dr. Norman Schwartz, whose ideals and lifelong dedication to public education continue to inspire.

Amanda recently attended the NCCAT program, "Teaching the Holocaust: Resources and Reflections," held in Washington, D.C., where she is pictured with scholarship presenters. This program offered her a unique opportunity to enhance her teaching strategies and engage her students with meaningful, impactful lessons.

The North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching (NCCAT) supports teachers across the state with professional development programs that foster growth, innovation, and leadership in education.
