Educators from around North Carolina joined the North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching (NCCAT) for the NCCAT Conference for Curriculum Leaders on Sept. 14-16 at the Cullowhee campus.
More than 100 participants were part of the three-day conference that allowed state Curriculum Leaders to collaborate and share ideas for this upcoming school year. The agenda for the NCCAT conference was based on feedback from curriculum leaders. Conference attendees were able to identify needs in their districts and give feedback on future NCCAT programming decisions.
Topics included: Curriculum & Instruction updates, Leading a Coaching Culture, Reignite Teacher and Student Engagement with Blended Learning, and more.
The conference was led by NCCAT Chief Academic Officer Dr. Bonnie Bolado. Speakers for the conference included: North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) Deputy Superintendent of Standards & Research Dr. Michael Maher; Dr. Kristi Day, NCDPI Director of Academic Standards; Sharon Thomas, Author & Consultant for Instructional Coaching; Dr. Catlin Tucker, Best-Selling Author, International Trainer & Keynote Speaker on Blended Learning, and several other breakout sessions for participants.
The conference began in 2016 to seek input from curriculum leaders across the state. It helps NCCAT build relationships with leaders in school districts across the state. Plans are already in progress for next year’s conference.
Sponsors for the event were Branching Minds, Edmentum, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, and Instructure.
