Do you either have an underutilized makerspace or are thinking of developing a makerspace? Are you finding that your STEM efforts are not generating the kind of interdisciplinary joy and wonder of learning that you see at other schools? This session will answer these questions and more by providing middle and high school teachers the opportunity for a deep dive into the intersection of each of proven, learner-centered strategies such as design thinking and authentic PBL to drive relevance, engagement, and deeper learning that can grow a “maker culture” across all curricular areas in a school. We will model an active learning environment where you will explore, tinker, create, and fail forward by learning how to use and apply various makerspace tools, resources, and equipment so that you can replicate this environment in your own school or classroom.
