CULLOWHEE – More than 90 educators from across North Carolina attended the first North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching (NCCAT) Literacy Leaders Conference in Cullowhee Nov. 8-11.

Giving Tuesday is a day where everyone, everywhere can do something to support the good causes that mean so much to them.You can volunteer your time; donate money; share your skills; campaign for something; donate goods, food, or clothes; organize a community event such as a street or park clean-up or a coffee morning. Open to teachers in their first, second, or third year of teaching, this program supports motivated beginning teachers by strengthening their knowledge base and classroom expertise. Teachers will develop their craft by understanding how to teach to the depth of their standards and differentiating for multiple levels of learners. Beginning educators will also have the opportunities to refine their teaching philosophies and class expectations.

January registration has opened for The North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching, a recognized national leader in professional development.

Applicants are encouraged to register as soon as possible to ensure a position in the program.

North Carolina 2020 Burroughs Wellcome Fund Teacher of the Year, Maureen Stover, who was also named one of four finalists for National Teacher of the Year, recently presented in the NCCAT program "Dollar Store Science." In this one day seminar, participants  learned ways to design lessons on a budget using inexpensive supplies and tools that you can find at your local discount store.

CULLOWHEE – The North Carolina Center of Advancement of Teaching (NCCAT) Board of Trustees will have a committee meeting Thursday, Nov. 4 at 5 p.m. in a virtual committee meeting from the NCCAT Cullowhee Campus, 276 NCCAT Drive, Cullowhee, NC 28723. The purpose of the committee meeting is to discuss planning for the future of the Cullowhee Campus facilities. Members of the public may view the meeting live at www.nccat.org

CULLOWHEE – Curriculum Leaders from across the state joined the North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching (NCCAT), a recognized national leader in professional development programming, for the fifth NCCAT Curriculum Leaders Conference Sept. 15-17 in Cullowhee.

An educator with a wide variety of educational experience has joined the North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching (NCCAT) faculty.

To help students to decode more complex, multisyllabic words, teach them a word analysis strategy.

Student discussion strengthens understanding of mathematical concepts.

North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching (NCCAT) faculty members Ms. Elizabeth Joyce and Dr. Mandy Taylor are part of an educational effort to lead the development of effective instructional approaches and content that teachers can use when schools must close for unforeseen disruptions, such as the COVID-19 pandemic. 

Five North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching alumni are among the 13 teachers selected as the second class of the North Carolina Space Education Ambassadors (NCSEA) program. Proud of our NCCAT alumni in this group!
