NCCAT alumna Kelly Cannon, a 6th grade teacher at Newton-Conover Middle School, recently received a grant to purchase Chromebooks. From The Compass ...
"The Morgridge Family Foundation teamed up with Khan Academy to offer a technology grant with the purpose of increasing the access students have to Khan Academy. In order to receive the grant, each applicant needed to be teacher of math or computer programming, have experience using Khan Academy, and have the technology purchased and implemented within 45 days from receiving the funds. Kelly Cannon, a 6th grade teacher at Newton-Conover Middle School proposed to use the funds to purchase 13 Chromebooks for her students. When she was chosen as a recipient of this grant, Ms. Kaylor supplemented the grant and provided additional funds to purchase a complete class set and cart of Chromebooks. This cart has allowed students more access to Khan Academy, to have more personalized educational options, and greater access to technology to enhance their education."
