This scholarship was established in honor of Richard A. Schwartz who devotes his life to helping school systems as a nationally renowned attorney and advocate for the North Carolina public education community. He also serves as the president of the Development of the North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching, Inc. Fittingly, the Richard A. Schwartz Honored Educator Scholarship honors his father, Dr. Norman Schwartz, and represents the ideals that Dr. Schwartz embodied throughout his life and long career in public education.
