CULLOWHEE - Educators from Winston-Salem Forsyth County Schools completed a successful Teacher Leadership Institute at NCCAT’s Cullowhee campus. The essential components of this NCCAT program cover the concept of leadership before drilling into the specifics of teacher leadership. Educators explore the elements of leadership, teacher leadership potential, personality traits, group dynamics, mentoring, problem solving, teacher leadership standards, and implementing teacher leadership roles in the school setting.
They acquire skills and abilities to unlock and enhance their own leadership potential. Other elements of the program can be at the discretion of the Local Education Agencies and include such topics as professional learning communities, data-informed leadership, team building, technology leadership, and more.
“This was one of the best experiences of my career,” participant Deneia Attucks wrote on Twitter. “I learned a great deal and bonded with awesome teachers.”
