The North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching (NCCAT) is a recognized leader in professional development for public school teachers.  Established by the State in 1985 with a mission to advance teaching as an art and a profession, NCCAT is dedicated to serving pre-K through 12th grade school teachers in order to enhance the learning of children of North Carolina.

 

The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the initial contact person for the public both in person and by phone or web based platforms.  This person will greet all guests entering the building in a professional and efficient manner.  The person must possess a strong service orientation with attention to guests' needs as appropriate.  In addition, this person will assist the Business Services unit in data entry, purchasing procedures, processing donations, and file maintenance, as well as other duties as determined appropriate.  Attention to detail and accuracy are necessary attributes.  



A typical work week will be Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.



 Recruitment for this position will target the Journey level of the Administrative band. The hiring range for this position is ($27,000-$29,950) and the salary will be commensurate with the applicant's competencies as well as the budget, equity, and market considerations.  If no candidates are identified at the Journey competency level, management may consider candidates at the Contributing competency level. The hiring range at this level will be ($22,232-$26,999).  For promotional and reemployment priority purposes, this position is considered to be equivalent to salary grade 59 at the journey level and salary grade 57 at the contributing level.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

A strong candidate must have a general knowledge of office management techniques; a strong service orientation to the needs of guests as appropriate; the ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing; and the ability to resolve problems and questions in accordance with procedural guidelines.

Demonstrated knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite of products including, but not limited to: Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Demonstrated knowledge of the use of a multi-line telephone system.

Must be skilled in coordinating activities and organizing work flow.

 

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

The minimum qualifications for this position are a High school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.
