The North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching (NCCAT) is a recognized leader in professional development for public school teachers.  Established by the State in 1985 with a mission to advance teaching as an art and a profession, NCCAT is dedicated to serving pre-K through 12th grade school teachers in order to enhance the learning of children of North Carolina.  The goal of NCCAT is to attract, retain, and support caring, highly qualified, and skilled teachers necessary to positively impact the quality of public education in North Carolina.  The Center's main focus is a year-round series of residential, off-site programs and seminars in the areas of the most current needs of teachers and state initiatives.  NCCAT's programs support teacher leadership, beginning teachers, and teachers and school districts that want to plan together to develop solutions for their schools.



This position's primary purpose is to provide administrative support for the Development Foundation of NCCAT, Inc., in development and fundraising activities.  The incumbent will maintain donor, grant and various office records as well as assist in event preparation and development related projects.  The incumbent will compose correspondence including donor thank you letters and aid in the management of fundraising campaigns.  The employee will also conduct research and communicate effectively with NCCAT staff, donors and supporters.  At times, the incumbent will work directly with the Executive Director in communications with the Foundation Board and other members of the fundraising community. 



Recruitment for this position will target the Journey level of the Adminsitrative Support band. The hiring range for this position is $29,861-$37,900 and the salary will be commensurate with the applicant's competencies as well as the budget, equity, and market considerations.  If no candidates are identified at the Journey competency level, management may consider candidates at the Contributing competency level. The hiring range at this level will be $22,323-$29,000. For promotional and reemployment priority purposes, this position is considered to be equivalent to salary grade 59 at the journey level and salary grade 57 at the contributing level.



 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

 

The candidate must have a good working knowledge of office procedures, practices and policies and be proficient in the use of office equipment and software platforms related to fundraising tasks. This person must possess excellent communication skills and be able to establish productive relationships with Board members, NCCAT faculty and staff and the general public.  Experience in Raisers Edge and Net Community Sparks will be given serious consideration.  The incumbent must have good time management skills and be able to work autonomously.  This person must have a friendly and outgoing attitude with an attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines, work under stringent timeframes and exhibit a sense of humor under stressful conditions.

 

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

The minimum education and requirements for this position are a high school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.
